T55d and T57c, unused.

"Saorstát" 3-line overprint in black or red (Thom): 6d and 10d, overprint error ("Sacrstát" for "Saorstát").

T55d
6d purple
"Sacrstát" for "Saorstát"
[MID]  [LAR]

T57c
10d turquoise
"Sacrstát" for "Saorstát"
[MID]  [LAR]

Notes: The "Sacrstát" for "Saorstát" is a well-established overprint error that appears on every value (low and high) of set 9T. It apparently derived from each of the five plate settings used for the low values, commonly appearing as the 10th stamp of the second row of the 240- stamp sheets. A missing piece of type caused the "o" of "Saorstát" to print as a near-perfect "c".

Provenance: Dr. Charles Wolf.

Bibliography: Meredith 1927, 55; Feldman 1968, 47-49.
