T63a (60a), with T63 (60), horizontal pair, unused.

1923 (March 7) "Saorstát" 3-line overprint in dull or shiny blue-black (Harrison coils): 1d overprint error (long "1" in "1922").

T63a with T60
1d scarlet
Long "1" in "1922"
[MID]LAR [LAR]

Notes: The long "1" in "1922" is a well established error that may be found on all four values of the Saorsta´t Harrison coils. The "1" (as seen in the left-hand stamp of the pair) extends well below the other numerals and broadens at its base into a kind of serif. The error was apparently caused by a flaw in the fifth subject of the top row of the 30-subject (6 x 5) electrotype plate prepared by Harrison; it would consequently appear eight times in a sheet of 240 stamps (or about sixteen in the 480 stamps that made up a roll of horizontal coils).

Provenance: Dr. Charles Wolf

Bibliography: Feldman 1968, 50; Dulin 1993, 41; Fletcher 1995, 48; Bugg 1996, 8-9.
