Barnesville Ga May 5th/65
also on Regt passed hear in Rout for Macon they done no harm but taken foreiage for there stock some for them selves to Eat but more than necessary the 6th was satturday at night a Squad of cavalry passed I dont know wheather they was Rebels or yanks. Sunday the 7th of May 1865 I still staying with Mr owen waiting for the Rail Road to be repaired The 8th we hope to plant some corn worked one half day no news to Day of Interest Tuesday the 9th confederate army passing going home about 500 hundred of wheelers cavaly passed through Barnesville to Day

10th I made preparations to get Ready to start home I had all my clothes washed up The 11th we left Mr Owen and got on the cars at Grogins Station 11 1/2 oclok A.M. and started to Atlanta arrived at Atlanta at 5.o'ck P.M. and went to the prov Martial office to see if our papers was all right he said they was all right left Atlanta 6 1/2 P.M. in Rout for Nashville we went to the chatahooche [sp. Chattahoochee] River and stoped for the night on the 12th Renewed our Journey on towards Dalton Distance one hundred miles arrived at Marietta 20 ms
