garde i fainted with fatigue and suferinge with stiffnus then i was excused thate nighte June 26 wea lefte Jeferson vill ate 10 oclock ande marched 6 miles to midel town ande then wea move to south mountain gape this we maid in 24 Hours wea maide 38 miles this gape was wher the galente generel Franklin [i.e., Maj. Gen. William Franklin, USA] fell ite ware foughte on the 14 of february 1862 [properly 14 September 1862] on this march wea paste a throug the Beste in proved farmes sence i lefte ohio the Day Before wea came to midel
