THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1864.
Came on picket this morning, our place of picketing has been changed to the back road. Reserve held near Mill Creek on back road, Picket Columbia, Newman's, furnices & over on lost river whole regt is on, fourth squadron is in reserve Weather little rainy.
FRIDAY 18
Still on picket, all quiet. Weather rainy, very disagreable picketing.
SATURDAY 19
Yet on picket, Everything still remains quiet, no news from Enemy, Weather very disagreable raining & snowing.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1864.
Releived this morning by 7th Regt. Came to camp, got in late, found camp moved to within a few miles of Crotzer's Springs. Weather continues rainy.
MONDAY 21
Remained in camp all day, Had no drill owing to weather being rainy & ground very muddy Camp is very badly situated, on north side of a very high hill, exposed to the north west winds. Boys have named it Camp Missery
TUESDAY 22
Drilled this morning on foot Skirmish drill, marched towards front this evening to meet an advance of Yankee Cav. reported to have reached Mt Jackson Marced to Forestville & encamped for night. Wickham's Brig. with assistance of some Infantry had driven the Yankees back Weather clear & cold slight snow fell last night
