THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29, 1864.
Had inspection of Horses & arms by Brig. Adjutant Insp. Gen, Great many Horses condemned. Weather unsettled slight snow fell last night. Very cold this morning. It appears that the Company was determined not to pass all the Christmas off without some fun, So all hands got drunk to night on apple toddy. Too drunk to have any fun.
FRIDAY 30
All hands of Co. I feel very stupid this morning after their drunk last night I, that is Alfred, as a matter of course am not included in the drunken party, but I certainly did take a drink or two by way of tasting it. Weather cold & clear, snow on ground
SATURDAY 31
Regt. was mustered to day. Weather continues excessively cold. I will bid farewell to old 65 with all its scenes of bloodshed & strife. And hope before the end of another year peace, independence, and prosperity may be our happy lot
