Eutaw, June 24th, 1857
My Dear Wife;
You see I am here still. I shall leave tonight, however, unless the stage be full. I am very impatient to be off, for I can't bear to be away from home, with nothing to do. After all my detention here, I have not accomplished any thing valuable either for my clients, or myself. My cases have all been continued.
I expect to be detained another day in Montgomery, though I will try to avoid it. I shall be exceedingly restless and impatient, until I get to our little child.
I saw Mrs and Elira Gould, yesterday. They inquired very kindly about you, and said they had written to you to come to the concert tonight. They were both looking very well. I saw Mr. Derby also, who also made kind inquiries about you and our good neighbors Dr and Mrs Anderson [i.e., Dr. Leroy H. Anderson and Hannah Southgate Anderson]. His manner towards me seemed rather distant, and cold.
The masons had a procession, address, and dinner today, but I did not participate in any portion of their celebration of St. John's day. Several people from Gainesville were here.
I hope you, and Mit, and all the servants are well. Give my love to Mit: Remember me to all the servants, and believe me your affectionate husband,
T. Reavis.
