My Dear Juliaett I reseived your leter of the 31st of jan this morning and See by the post mark that it was mailed feb the 2nd making but five days for it to be on the road
I also reseived one from Thomas which was riten the 2nt he was at Mareys when he rote it his health he Says is very good this winter he had got through working for Stephen Carroll at preasant Stephen wanted to hire him for a year but he thinks he can do beter he is going to work for Harmon Carroll this winter and thinks that he can get beter wages next Sumar than he could to hire out by the year

I reseived the fu lines that you rote last wednesday I have Spoken to the Lut. about geting a furlow but am afraid I cant Succeed inn geting it thair is So many of the Oald hands inn this company that is reinlisting and they of course have to have a furlow that I am afraid that I cant get one the Lut. Says he wil do all he can towards helping me get one I was at the Express Office yesterday to See if I could find any thing of my box but could not thair is hundreds of boxes at the Ofice but none of them for me or this Company I Saw Tom Casey at the express ofice he wont reinlist he is inn the 20th Ohio batery and Says he wil Serve the rest of his time out before he is fastend for three years longer

we have ben having Some very nice warm days here but it is coald and yesterday it Snowed Some but not enough to cover the ground and to day it is clear but the wind blows quite coald
The depo inn town burnt down last night it was filled up with nue cloathing for the armey inn the front and is a very heavy loss to the Soldiers as they are inn need of cloaths
I guess I Shall have to tel you about our inspection that we had this fore noon we have to get out inn time on the parade ground with our Shoes blacked and clean cloaths on also every man has to have on his haver Sack and canteen and have our tents all cleaned and blankets foalded and every thing has to be as clean as they can be made

wel Juliaett I have not much to rite this time So I Shal have to ask you to excuse this Short leter on acount of not knowing what to rite and my ink is very poor So bad that I can hardly rite atall
