Camp Near Lewisburg Va
November 27th/61

Mary since yesterday we have received orders to go in to winter quarters at Red Sulphur Springs in Va which is about 21 miles from the Rail Road our nearest to the Road is the Depot at Newbern on New River I am one of the proudest fellows tonight you ever seen to think that day after tomorrow we leave N. W. Va I hope for ever we will have to march about 50 miles and it is a going to be one of the hardest marches we have ever made. it is now raing and freezing as fast as it falls and old mother earth is as slick as the greesy side of the moon. I will write you as soon as we reach the Red Sulphur which will take us four or five days

yours as ever
Chris C. McKinney
