Ever Dear wife
Your Father is talking of starting home this morning and I write you. I would like much verry much to be home this morning. Every day makes me more anxious to see you. It will not be long though.
When I come home and have to leave so soon as I did the last time it vexes and annoyes me.
I am in good health and getting along pretty well.
I send you my clotheshave them washedthere are some buttons offhave them put on and ready so if anything should occur I can get them or you can send them to me.
There is no news of much importance here. Thomas has wipped Hood at Franklin Tenn. badly. Killing and wounding five thousand and capturing six hundred prisoners. The Federals lost six hundred. The Rebs attacked Thomas in his Fortifications. This is the reason of the great disparity in the loss.
Sherman has taken Macon Milledgeville Griffin Madison Augusta and is now

before Savannah if he has not already captured it.
I sent you the papers magazines and the articles I have had so long on hands for you.
If I can get the logwood &c in time I will send them by your Father
Hoping soon to see you and the children. Poor little Adda how puny and sick she looked when I saw her. hope she is better. Have care of her Lizzie.
Tell Jimmie to be Pa's Man and he will let him have a nice ride again when he gets home.
Lizzie you had better kill the other Beef as soon as you can. Forage is going to be so scarce. I will try and send Jimmie some candy.
How soon I shall see you all again I hope and trust will be close at hand.
Write me if you have a chance and I should be returned all the news.
I remain Ever yours
Jas M Meek
