Ever dear wife
I expected to have received a letter from you ere thisBut have not. We have no news of importance here.
I have my commission as Attorney Gen. for our Judicial Circuit.
Do not know what will be done about the United States District Attorney for this place. We have not heard from Gault yet.
Your Uncle William N Clarkson is here for special exchange for some Union

prisoners that the Rebels hold. I have seen him. He is sick. Have furnished him with a bottle of Apple Brandy and a woolen over shirt. He wants to get his wife and move North to Illinois or Indiana Does not want to be exchanged and sent into the Rebel lines. Tell Adda and Jimmie to be good, nice and pretty children.
The weather is good and pleasant but I suppose you do not want to come to the Plains. All the family at the Plains enquired when you were coming down

I told them I did not know. Why do you not desire to come? I noticed your disinclination. Your excuse did not seem to have much in it.
I will be up to the Plains tomorrow or next day.
Have you heard anything about the Rebels? Mrs Rodifer is much better.
Sometimes in the greatest kindness of my heart and nature and as a husband desiring the greatest amount of good to you the children and my self calmly and in love I would like to say much to you if you will not become ill-
