Newark, March 18th 1866

Dear Brother

Your letters of the 21st Feb. and 2nd March has at last come to hand, I do not know why it is that your letters are so long getting here, but I suppose there is some cause for it. I was glad to hear from you and that your eyes are getting better so fast. I wrote two or three letters to you at Xenia and not getting an answer from you I did not know where you was to be found. Mike is at home and he told Charley that you was not at [?], I did not get to see Mike for more than a week after he got home, then he told me where you was and a few days after I got your two letters I might have written this a few days sooner, but I thought you could be home last evening. I have not been very well for a week or two past and am not well now but am

able to work. Our family are in pretty good health at this time so far as I know. We have had quite a spell of weather for a few days past and this morning quite a snow storm But tonight it pleasant. I got a letter from Somerset last week. They are well at this time, but have had a hard time of it this winter, nearly all of them being sick. Mollie well generally I believe.
Jake Petry has bought Bill Foglenyss house and lot. Our little heifer Rosy has a calf. She is an extensive cow. Hoping to see you soon, I will close for this time

Yours as ever
James
