Camp Toledo Sept 7/62

Dear father mother

I am pretty well and so are all of the boys We are under marching orders to morrow at 5 oclock it may be countermanded our Colonels name is Groom [i.e., Col. John C. Groom, 100th Ohio Infantry] from Franklin County he appears to be a verry good man The boys are getting a little out with our Lieutenant Palmer [i.e., 1st Lt. John H. Palmer, Co. H, 100th Ohio Infantry] We have got our uniforms in full we had to pay for our caps they were bought down town Now about that money the Losure [i.e., 2nd Lt. Emmett Losure, Co. H, 100th Ohio Infantry] wanted to borrow it and so I let him have it you will have to get along without it for a while when he is payd off the officers did not receive their pay November is the time of payment I do not know but it is
