Dear Father

I received a letter from you this morning bearing the date of 22nd I was glad to learn that you were all well for it is joy to know that the friends are all well at home All of the boys that you know are well and full of life the health of the Compy is rather improveing I think but nevertheless there are some that do not feel altogether well but I hope they will be soon for I do not like to see any of the boys taken off to the hospital for I think I do not know how long before it will be my turn to but I hope I shall have my health so I shall never have to go

We have been haveing some for the last few days it has rained quite steady for 2 day now and the prospects are not very flatering for my part I do not like these rainy day for it is rather disagreeable to be ploding around in the mud it is not very pleasant I would like to be at home such weather but not so yet a while for they are not done yet with me yet but I hope they will finealy settle this thing up satisfactory to all and let us boys go home once more to our friends for luck but I suppose when they get throug with us they will let us know of it the night before hand we shall have to go through all of the military go on and draw all the rations they can for us so we shall have something to take home with us well I do not care only so I get home that is the main point I do not hear from Lieut Losure but he is no worse if he was we should hear from it I am in hope he will soon be with us We have been under marching orders for almost 2 weeks and have not gone yet it is the first time we had marching orders and did not go but we shall get our pay before long I expect for not marching by a long one for some place no on knows where but I hope not out of this place State I should have said but when ever we are called we shall have to pack up and start but we must make the best of it we can although I always hate to hear we have marching orders but I stand it with the best of them

There is no news of any importence that know of that command that left here I herd was surrounded and if they are look out for fun for those East Tenn boys will fight for dear life for they have longed for a chance to battle with their opressors and I think they will get it they are good fighting men I must draw my letter to a close so good by write soon good by give my love to all enquiring friends and reserve a share for yourself
