Feb 21 the 1862 63

Dear Husband

     I have seated my self this morning to write you a letter as Mr James Barnet starts to day for Memphis I have taken a severe cold & cannot speak a bove a whisper this morning but I hope I will get over this soon the Baby has not ben well for several days the rest of the family Is all well John & Martha left here yesturday eavning he was helping George to get out some clover seed
Mr Pullen declinded sowing any & I let him have what was to spare
George will sow ours next week I had Sam Tenant geting wood last week
Mr Simpers Is still at work on the House he Is getting along prety well I think he will get through In the corse of 3 weeks
the wheat does not look very well It worth 1 dollar 10 cts corn is selling at 40 & 50 cts per Bush we have a bout 1200 bush In the crib now
     the Col did not honor us with a visit before he left But I am sure If he had he would of had all the attention possible there Is not a man In your Reg But that

I would not feel It my duty to treat with respect & particular the who has ben a friend to us bowth Tome Litlepages wife [i.e., Sarah Littlepage] died yesterday with a disease called the Black tongue & typhoid fever the toung becomes so swelled that they can not breathe Hireum Is still Improving in health
     Martha Mason hasnot entirely recovered yet Will Mason & the Doctor has set up a drug store In town
My letter Is rather short this morning but I do not feel very much like writing Jane & the children wishes me to Remember them to you Scott says tell you he has Just made a smoke under the meat he Is an excellent Boy In every respect no more at present write soon
