April 9" 1863

Dear Minerva

     I have an oppertunity of sending a letter to you direct this morning by Mr Thomas Denny, and I avail myself of it
     I have mailed two letter to you with in the last four days You may get this befor you do those by mail
     I wrote to you if you could come down to do so. In those two letters I believe I Explained everything. If you have not got them before this comes to hand you had better send to the Post Office for they will certainly be there. In one of them I Enclosed $20.00 thinking you might need it to assist in bearing your Expences. I doant want you to leave home without money Enough to take you home again if we should have left all of this I Explained in bothe of my other letters, If it should turn out that we are gone I will leave a letter for you at the Post Office and also at the Gayoso House This is a Hotel When you get here take a

Hack and go to that Hotel If we are here I will find you out at once. If we are gone you will get directions here about what to do. If we should be gone I will also leave a letter for you at Gen Veatch's Headquarters. But I have no idea but that we will be here The trip will be good for your health anyhow
     Be sure to get on a through Boat the Glendale is a favorite packet but she may be down You can find out by inquiring at the Wharf Boat when you can get a through Boat
     Lieutenant Lamar [i.e., Lt. John W. Lamar, Co. C, 53rd Indiana Infantry] will leave for home shortly. Probably in a day or two If he leaves that soon I will send a letter by him If you have not written to me already, do so at once
     My health continues to improve
     Remember me to all the family
