Montreal Ocean Steam Ship Co—
New. York—July 9, 1863.

E M. Archibald Esq—
British Consul. N. York—

Sir: I beg to inform you that in the month of Jan. last—Michael Quin—& his sister-in-law came passengers from Ireland in our ship Hibernia—to Portland—on their way to San Francisco— Money for their passage having been remitted beforehand by D H. Quin. (through an agent at Sacramento. Ca.) Michael Quin's brother— The sum was not quite sufficient for the passage of both of them and it was agreed here that the Sister-in-law should go on, and Michael should remain here until his brother sent on the balance of his passage money, which was subsequently sent— Quin's luggage was delayed in coming on from Portland, and was not received here until more than 10 days after the Hibernia arrived there—

We are,
Sir,
Yours most respectfully,
Sabel and Searle.
fr. [illeg]. Jones—
