dear wife i take my pen in hand to inform you how i am getting along we Reached the camp yesterday afternoon all safe and sound and thes few lines leaves me in verry good health thank god for his kindness to us all and hopes to find you the same the Gaurd was verry kind to us all and treated us like Gentlemen i like it verry well here indeed because we have Plenty to Eat and nothing to do but dear wife i dont want you to fret because it may be for the best we cant tell in this world what is best to do but god is good and the world is wide and i hope he is on our side give my love to all my best wishers and tell them that i hope we will soon meet again but i cant tell how soon i have learnt and seen more since i have listed than

Ever i did see in my life before but if Ever i get out of this scrape they shall never Fool me again i tell you because they could not Print Enough Greenbacks i one week to Entice me again to Enlist you must not write only one half a sheet of Paper and leave the Envelope open when you send it Just let me know how you are getting along and what you are doing so my mind will be Easey write as soon as you get this for i long to hear from home when you write i want you to Put a sheet of Papper and one Envelope in the letter because it is verry scarce thing here and dear you must not Put any stamps in atall so i close my letter in sending you all my love and best Respects untill we meet again I Still Remain your Affectionate Husband till Death
