14th Sunday, still raining. moved our camp about half a mile had to wade a creek rained all day got whet
15th had to drill four hours all quiet brought in some rebel prisoners
Dec 27th from the 15th to the 27th we have done nothing of interest but drill, on the morning of the 27th. we started toward the Arkansas river at about 6 oclock. the roads are very muddy about 3 oclock we took a rest on the top of the Boston Mountains on the telegraph road, staid for supper and then started again and went to Lees river and stoped about 4 hours and then started at day light

Dec 28th Started at day light crossed the Lees river and went toward Vanburan [sp. Van Buren] was fired on by the bushwackers about 3 oclock. no one hurt. we skirmished a little and then went on to within 3 miles of VanBuran got to camp about 8 oclock and had a nights rest

29th Started at about 8 oclock and got to Vanburan [sp. Van Buren] about 1/2 past nine the rebels are across the river but we had no fight we came to camp about 1 oclock. about three miles Corn town and stoped
3 miles and back
till 6 oclock and then started again and marched till 2 oclock and stoped till day light
