1862

Dec 30th  Started at day light and marched within 15 miles of Prairie Grove and camped for the night

25 miles

31st  Started at about 8 oclock and a capt killed by a gun going off got to camp at about 4 oclock We are very sore and tired

January 1863

Jan 2nd  Started at 7 oclock and got to Fayettville [sp. Fayetteville] at 1 oclock roads very mudy stayed till two then started and got to White river at 3 l/2 oclock

14 miles

Jan 5th  laid still till this morning and then we were ordered out to a grand review got in at 12 oclock

6th  we started at 8 1/2 oclock and moved to a point about 12 miles from here on a nice little stream got here at three oclock

12 miles

1863

Jan 7th  Started at 8 1/2 and marched to Huntsville at 3 l/2 oclock

 "  8th  I stood my first turn on guard as Lt. of the guard

 "  9th  wrote to my wife

 "  10th  have orders to start on the march at 9 1/2 oclock. fell in line of Battle at 9 oclock and stacked arms waiting orders till 10 oclock then we started and went in an Easterly direction and got to a camping ground at quarter to five oclock

16 miles

Sunday

" 11th  up at 4 1/2 oclock and started at 7 oclock and at 9 oclock we were drawn up in line of Battle we expect a fight soon stoped till 12 1/2 oclock then started again and moved on cant find any enemy yet got to camp 4 1/2 oclock on a small creek close to White river
