April 24th I had to go on guard to day. rained some this forenoon, but turned out warm in the afternoon. got some provisions for the mess. our company went for the colores last night and to night no news. all quiet in camp. commensed making out the Muster Rolls
" 25th fine day but cloudy and rained a little shower in the forenoon. no drill boys washing and cleaning up their cloths, John G. White [i.e., Corporal John G. White] got back to the Regt. no news. I did not do much all day. started a letter to Mary. All quiet in camp.

Sunday
April 26th fine beautifull morning. gave Joshua Beadle [i.e., Private Joshua Beadle] pass to go to Rolla. every thing tolerable still in camp, but dont look much like Sunday. gave B. Budworth [i.e., Private Benjamin F. Budworth] a furlough to go home his wife very sick, wrote a letter to Mary and a piece to father, raining hard to night.
" 27th fine showers and cloudy nice and pleasent. every thing looks like Spring. turned over some Ordnance stores, made out Muster roll, wrote a piece to Emma, all quiet in camp, no news got no mail. Beautiful1 fine warm evening.
