Camp Near Dechard [sp. Decherd]
July 27th 1863

Dear Juliaett I reseived your leter of the 19th yesterday and was very glad to hear that you are all wel I have ben very wel lately and I guess I have got up to my natural weight again I am glad that Royal has got home I think he wil get wel again if he is careful of himself and lots of boys that are now at hospitals and in convilesant camps that wil die thair if they wer Sent home would get wel in a Short time I got a leter from Sarah [i.e., MSN/CW 5024-14] the other day which I will Send you

we mooved camp last Saturday after noon on account of water and have our camp within about one hundred rods of one of the best Springs I ever Saw we are about two milds South of dechard Station but we have orders to be ready to march tomorow morning we ar going South east about ten milds onto the mountains their is a fu rebs Scaterd around and we ar going to try and Stop their fun for them I dont no what I am going to do for paper to rite on this is all I have and I dont now whare I can get any more unless our napsacks are braught up

I have paper and envelops in that unless it is all Spoild being packed away all wet we hear this morning that John Morgan with all his force are capturd the nuse is most to good to be true
I reseived a leter from John the other day and one from thomas and have not answerd any of them nor dont no when I Shall get paper So I can but hope to Soon I have but litel nuse to rite the wiloughby and mentor Boys are all wel we have to live on half rations of meat and it makes the boys grumbel I have Just rece your leter of the 23rd and also the papers you Sent

I am much obliged to you for the money you Sent but am afraid I cannot use it here as grean Backs is all the kind thats here but if I cant use it I wil Send it back in my next leter Dave Rites about us being lousey I guess he stretched it a litel but as for us all being So is not So I have had them on me but not on this march and thair is a number in the company that are clean from them I wish I had more paper to rite on to you to day but must close
