Lexington Dec. 2/62

Dear Father

I read the letter you wrote to Harlan [i.e., Cpl. Harlan J. Bates, Co. H, 100th Ohio Infantry] I am getting better of the jaundice and so are the most of the boys I suppos you will hear of the resignation of the Capt before you get this but nevertheless I must write about it I tell you the boys do not like it much nor I either Palmer is Capt now but it does not fit at all the boys all of them or nearly so wanted Losure but I guess we shall get along some way we shall try you go to the Capt and you will find out about how we are used you may think it hard but it is

the truth that he will tell but there must be a change in affairs before long I think I believe the health of the Regt is improveing somewhat You wrot that you herd that Horace had got his discharge how did you hear that is the question I want know how such storys get around who starts them I guess that you need not send those undershirts if you have not I can get along with out them I think if you want them put them on if we are payed off I will send some money home for if they pay me all up I shall have considerable I will send

a note against A J Durbin and you can collect it there better than I can I guess he will pay it with out doubt in goods or the other you can explain the matter to him then I have $22, more comeing to me so if I can send home and if I want I can sen after it to pay for sending boxes in that way if in no other way I have been so under the way for a few days that I bought my liveing though I keep some for the future I am going to send home my letter with out a stamp I want you to write the appearance of things in every letter so I can hear

it correct for what we hear here we cannot believe for there is so many storys arround here that you cannot tell what to believe at all but I am in hopes it will be fixed up ere long I do not care how now I am completly confounded it is orders all of the time and they are more strict than ever I think but I can get along if the rest of them can well I guess if that I have wrote about enough good by write soon
