There was a steam ghrist mill close there and we use to go and buy flour and meal and bake pancakes They have a very large engine a 40 horse power and they keep it in very good order The Hoosiers are getting somewhat arroused at Old John Morgans raid it is the best thing that could have happened to them if he would only make a raid over into Ohio it would be a good thing that he could do for the state I am of the opinion that he will have all he has bargained for before he sees Tenn again Gen Hobson is after him with a large force from this State and the last we herd from him he was only 15 miles in his rear and the some guards are bushwacking and falling timber across the roads

to retard his progress and it will that Some told him that if he went into that State he would never get out he replied that he could go where he pleased and stay where he pleased that is to be tried on yet before he can flow he may but he will stand a good many chances of getting caught to one of getting clear We are full of life as Vicksburg is taken with 27000 prisoners 1 Lieut Gen 4 Maj Gen 130 Col 102 field pieces 30 siege guns 50,000 stand of arms 87 stand of colors so you can see they made something of a haul Rebel dispatches in the daily are blowing considerable over the success of Lee they say that they took 40,000 prisoners and that Gen Mead was on the run The papers do not like it because he would not let him bury his dead
