Dear Father

I received yours of July 12 this morning and was glad to hear that you were well and the rest of the folks up in your locality We are all well but Harvey he has not been well for some time but feels some better than he did I am in hope he will get along well To day is our wash day and I have washed my cloths I washed my pants and wrung them as dry as I could and then I put them on again that is the way we have to do to get rid of our graybacks of which there are some on most all of the boys in the Regt

George Miller has gone out to pick blackbarys of which there is more the boys say than they ever saw before in their life Some of the boys in the Regt killed a large yellow rattlesnake out in the berry patch he was about 4 ft long and as broad in the midle of him as your hand he had 7 rattles there is a good many snakes arround this was the largest one I ever saw but not the longest I would not like to get into a nest of them and run the risk of the bite of the venimous reptile The money came through all sound Good by write soon and the news
