Dear Father & Mother

I once more seat myself to adress you a few lines I am well so are the rest of the boys in the Co I have not heard from home since I left it seems like a good while to wait The rebels are here Our skermishers are out cracking away all of the time 6 Co of our Regt was out in support of the skermishers and we drove them about 3 miles and they made a bold stand and shelled us for 2 hours almost incessently I layed flat to the ground and the shells burst over our heads

But as providence would have it they did not hurt any one of the support but some of the Regt that lay back got wounded The 4 O B fired 200 rounds it has only 4 guns and the rebel battery opened with 10 2 out of our Regt was wounded on the skermish line yesterday We drove them a good ways yesterday but found them we are not very far from Atlanta We take a few of the rebs occasionaly They say that they are tired of eating corn meal I would like to get out of this place they are thick but we flank them out of their strong holds we do not loose but a few men compared to the amount of fighting we do I am in hops that this campaign will
