Dec 4th/64

I recd a letter from you of Nov 28 and in it was $5.00 I found it all safe I got the gloves before I got the letter I am well and so are all of the boys that are here I do not hear any thing of any of the boys that were missing They are all killed or captured I am not prepaired to tell you which The rebs are here in sight of Nash and have thrown up a line

But they cannot come in only as prisoners of war Gen A.J. Smith is here with 20000 men And the gunboats to guard our flank we can stand them sometimes Rosy [General William S. Rosecrans] is at Murfreesborough [sp. Murfreesboro] with quite a large force some 15 or 20000 I have no news of any importance to write that I know of Our Div captured 22 stands of colors and our brig 11 of the 22 That watch is in very good condition he did not send me the money or the paper and envelops I do not see why he acts as he does I would like some more money for I am going to buy a gold pen for I cannot
