We have been very free from colds untill we got in the barracks here and ever since then we have had bad colds The citizens all think that we will not have much fighting to do I hope not Yesterdays paper spoke of the evacuation of Charleston or at least they were remooveing the heavy guns from Morris Island I hope it is so and then will go to Richmond then we will stop up their hole and starve them out or bring around peace at some cost Our fleet has been taking several blocade runners at Wilmington and expect

Several more in soon It is my opinion that there will be something done soon I see by the paper that Hood is releaved from his command and Dick Taylor superseeds him but I think he will make a poor out of it for men will not fight when they have been so badly whiped as they have been
I will close good by Write soon

H E Randall
