     Dearest one I am thankfull that I am blessed with the privalege of seeing another Sabbath day and have the opertunity of writing to those I love so well ) this is almoste a may morning every thing seames lovely the birds are Singing Sweetely it brings my rememberance to Sabbath days that has so sweetly passed in years gon bye ) it Seemes to me that I want nothing more than the presance of my little family to fill my happiness on earth) but another thought thare is something els pertaining to our earthly hapiness while marching through

this world of Sin and vanity that is the love of god Shed abroad in our hearts) yes this is the greate happiness without this wee could not be happy though wee ware Surrounded by all of our near and dear relations) and had the world to our pleasure yes the love of god is the Saving grace the only Shure hope that wee have for a reseption in a better world than this) Dearest wee are blessed with the privalege of going to church thare is preaching every Sunday and Some times through the week) tell me how the church is getting a long tell me wheather David goes to Sabbath School and to meeting yet or not) I hope that all difficulty between you and him wil be settled Satisfactoraly Some way or other So you can feel like

brother and sister once more) may god healp us all to come to him with our troubles pleading with him for council in all cases that wee may do nothing wrong have no envy and in every thing be subject to his good will) as I will not send this out untill tuesday I will close for the presant So good Bye without Shaking hands but with kinde feelings)

March the 20th

how are you loved ones (all well I hope you can Say So) oh how lazy wee git as the beautiful Spring appears our duty in nothing wee was on duty four hours last week) you can hardely imagin the eagerness to get the paper to here the news wee get a morning and eavening paper every day except the Sabbath) yes Dearest is seames that wee are taking to much pleasure in reading

the heard Shipes and privations of our brave Brother Soldiers that is fiting our battles and gaining for us a land of peace a name that our children will be proud to own ) at a thought is Seams that I am not doing my part but on reflection I am Subject to him that doeth all things rite ) did you get a paper from me last male if they come through ridular I will send on occasionally )
     March the 21st good morning love I have Just yours of the 18 No 3 I am glad to here that you are all still blesed with good health always speake of McCords family if it is not to much trouble ) I have not heared from the Regt for some time ) you asked me to forgive your short letters love I am Satisfied to get a letter if it only tells me of the health of my Dear little family ) you asked me what I thought I would do. I think I will Stay here untill I am able to go to the front

I have not inproved So rapidly Since I come here as I did a few days before I left home John McCord [i.e., Corporal John McCord] is about as common you asked to know if I was on duty I have charge of a Co that is doing lite duty ) they are only on two hours in a day from (2 till 4 oc pm) all that I have to do is to See that they are ready at 2 oc ) that is the same as doing nothing ) yet it has to be done ) you spoke of your Dream I was at home night before last ) I gave you Such a hugging as I like ) I am with you in your hopes of these dreams being reality but wee must be reconsiled to our

I received another letter to day from uncle George.W.Ryan his wife Mary Was a half Sister to father he gave me a gradeel of infor mation concerning our Relation Father has two half Sisters living near here and a half Brother living in Illinois ) I thank willey for the good kisses he sends me ) tell me how Franky is getting along ) I Sent Willey a little Soldiers almanac ) tell me how old the letters is generally when you get them ) my health is about as common I will close for the presant remember me when pleading for mercy give my respect to all ) my love to you forever
