I Seat my self this eavening for the purpose of writing a few lines to you I hope that you are all well my pet that I have told you about under my arm has gathered again and is giving me some pain I feel quite poorly today you will excuse me for not writing much this time ) wee got a dispatch here By telegraph a few minutes ago that Jeff Davis [i.e., Jefferson Davis] was captured I hope it is true )
