October 20th 1870

Dear Brother Charles. Wee received your letter Dated September 25th Wee was Glad to hear from you once More ) Wee are All well At this time ). thare has been More Sickness here this season than Comon health is improveing now ) Crops Are jenneraly Good Especialy Corn crops. Wee have had An Abundance of rain here All Summer Which is not jeneraly the case ) times is Good here Money plenty . And Wee Are all peceable Corn is now Worth one Dollar pr bushel oats one Dollar. sweetpotatoes 50 cts. Flower Six And seven Dollars pr barrel At jefferson ) Cotton 12 to 15 cts pr pound ) Good horses And And Mules are high, Well Charles you Wanted to know if Sam And you had Made A Bad bargain in buying the old home place or No., Sam Wrote to Me that he Wanted the Ninehundred And sixty Acre Track of land, the imprvement is on the onehundrd And sixty Acre tract And that is What I call The old home place. ) if you have ever Writen to Me that you Wanted the onehundred and sixty Acre

Tract I have Never Got your letter So I Will Not Make the Deed until I Hear from you Again ) Now Charley I Will Not tell you What I think About the good or bad bargain you have Made But I Will Say this to you if you And Sam Will Come out here And look At the land An Dont like it I Will take it back All of it half of it or one third of it I Would like very well to have an interest in it But just What I Said I Would do I Will do ) Now Charley that is just About as Near As I can give you My opinion About your trade ) Well I have principly quite Sirehunting But if you Will Bring your new fire cap over I will go with you A hunting And wee Will hunt until we kill A buck, uncle jo has Mooved back to his old place on horsecreek Zelif has Mooved to the prarie Eliot has sold out And talks of going to the Nation ) Susan Robins child is Dead ) james Willhites oldest child is Dead I Must Come to A close hoping to hear from you Soon And Mary and the children Says hopeing to See you Soon )
