Memphis Jan" the 8th 1859

Dear Minerva

     I mailed a letter to you yesterday from this place giving you particulars of our trip &c Since then Ford & William Wilkenson have arived Ford will start this Evening for home and promises to get this to you emediately
     I informed you yesterday that we were wind bound We are still in the same condition The first bad weather we have Experienced. So soon as it falls we will leave for below You will get a letter by mail in a day or two after you

     While I was at French Island I learned that hogs were dying a goodeal with cholera I sent you word if ours had any appearance of not doing well that you had better have part of them killed If you did not I think as soon as your visit is out you had better have them all killed The Corn they will Eat will be worth more than the pork
     I cant tell when I will be home but will make the trip as soon short as is consistent with my interest
     I think much of you and the children am anxious to see you all but it cant be yet
