La Grange Tenn Nov 10th 1862

Dear Minerva

I wrote you a letter last night and mailed it this morning I learn to day that Mr Wright will start home tomorow morning and I drop you a few lines thinking it may reach you before the other
Our Reg with the balance of the army made a two days scout towards Holly Springs day before yesterday & yesterday They got back in the night last night They had no Engagement but captured some prisoners I did not go with them It is believed that it woant be long before there will be a forward move in that direction I long to see it We have spent the Summer campaiging and now ocupy the identical camp we did five months ago This is indeed slow progress But I think the army of west Tenn is now in a condition to make advances from which they will not have to fall back
The weather still continues very fine for the time of year
There seems to be but little probability of us being paid off soon I wrote you more lengthily apon this yesterday I will as soon as we are paid Send you Enough to anSwer all your purposes but this for anything I can say may be some time If it is possible for you to get along without selling wheat I would rather I think the price will be better in the spring

I send my trunk home by Mr Wright It is so large and unhandy and so liable to damage the I prefer getting it home and I have now got me a field desk in which to preserve papers and donot need the trunk for that purpose
I have no more Write soon and often Remember me to all

Your affectionate Husband
George Thomas
