Dear Minerva

I write to you this Evening to apprise you of two other letters I have sent. I mailed one of them about four days ago with $20.00 Enclosed. The other I sent by Capt Sumner He promised to deliver it in person. I Enclosed $100.00 in it. I took the Captains receipt for the money. I Enclose the receipt in this letter If you get this befor he gives you the money just give him his receipt But if he has handed you the money before you get this and didnot take your receipt for it you can Either send this one to him or destroy it. I sent some oranges by him, but I am afraid they will rot before you get them
There is nothing new that would interest you in Camp. The health of the troops is generally good, But there are several Officers in our Regt offering their resignations on account of ill health Among them are the major and Adjutant. It is still difficult to get out of the service

Page 2

Dr Slaughter had tendered his resignation He got notice this Evening that it was accepted He will leave for home in a few days
Our future movement are yet uncertain some still think we will be sent down the river shortly others think we will remain here for some time The future alone will solve the doubt
I get letters from home only ocasionally Write often, Look well to your health
     Remember me to all

Your affectionate Husband
George Thomas

Enclosed I send a receipt that I took from the post master the morning I left Rockport for the postage I owed him, You can just file it away
