Elmyra [sp. Elmira] Prison N. York
December the 11th 1864 no news, but very cold Weather snows or Rain Every Day we have Roll call twice Each Day if any one is absent from Roll call he is put in the Guard house for 24 hours or more a Federal officer or Sergt one present at Each Roll call we have two meals a Day for Breakfast Bread and meat for Dinner soop & Bread. no supper the two meals very good Enough to live on if we had one more meal a Day we would do well

December the 19th 1864 many rumers in regard to our being released from prison some say we will be Paroled during the war some thinks that we will be Exchanged in a short time all the in two ward was put in the Guardhouse because there was a Rope lader found under the house they was put in to them tell who put the lader there Dec the 20th we Recieved clothing from Baltimore from J. Howard McHerry clothing Recieved over coats & pants &
