Shirts & Drawers & Shoes Socks & Gloves all we Received from J. H. McHerry Jo W. Booson Died the 20 at Hospital at Elmira N.Y. The 20th I wrote a letter by Flag of Truce to Mariah. also one home & one to Mobile Alabama Dec the 22nd very cold & dull times among the prisoners Suffering mutch from colds & Dying by the Dozzen per day some frees December the 25th beautiful morning a very dull time in prison bread & beef for Breakfast we had a good Dinner Soop and Bread no Supper that winds up Christmas Day

December the 27 1864 Inspection of quarters by a Federal officer comd the prisoner camp Dec the 29 we Recd very strict orders our Blankets had to be folded up Every morning or go to the Guard house several was put in for something of the kind for very small offenses Sunday January 1 1865 The 1st was a very cold Day no news some rumers about the Exchange nothing Definite Jan the 4th more Exchange news nothing official yet on the night of the 6th the Deepest Snow fell still snowing The 7 at Elmira N. York
