Jan the 9 1865 I was on Detail to Rake snow off the walks to and from the quarters I put in a substitute for [?] 10 the we was mustered & searched for money also the same day an order was issued that if any man had and would give it up he would get it back in orders on the sutler and if they did not give it up and was caught with any hear after it would be confiscated and the man caught with any money hear after severely Punished after time was given them to hand it up

January the 13 1865
some of the prisoners arrested for sending out underground letters the way unknown by me I was sick on the 15 also the 16 suffering from cold the 20th I was Down sick with the Rheumitism Sunday Jan the 22 1865 Monday the 23rd snowed all day Eben was put in the Guard house Jan the 28th for a small offence the 29th some prisoners come to this place that was captured at Fort Fisher the number is about 300 hund some of the hardest looking Rebels I Ever saw Eben he was released Feb 1st J Martel a letter & permit home for clothing on the 1st 1865
