1863

Mar 16th  Maj Miller played (the Girl I left behind me) as we passed by Stoped 3/4 hour, first part of the day. roads tolerably level. after part rather rough. got to camp on big Piney at 3 1/4 P.M. camped in a field. teams go in at 5 1/2 oclock

 "  17th  fine morning little cloudy. Reville 5 struck tents at 6 and marched at 7 oclock boys tired and sore travailed till 11 oclock and rested about 15 minutes then marched on till 1 1/2 and rested again 30 minutes tolerable good country. timber roads tolerable good. got to camp 3 oclock. camped in a field very pretty camp faring East. teams got in and we got tents at 6 oclock water very scarce and not very good.

Mar 18th  Sprinkling rain Struck tents at 6 A.M. and started at 7 oclock. looks like as if it would be a wet day. Stoped to rest at 9 1/2 A.M. then went on stoped to rest at 10 1/2 A.M. little bit country tolerable level. got to camp at 12 oclock camped in a hollow among the Pines our water only in a pond on the hill about a quarter of a mile of

 "  19th  Reville 5 struck tents 6 and march at 7 oclock cloudy and looks like rain. stoped at 8 1/2 and rested a little travailed through the Pines. Stoped and rested a little at 9 1/2. crossed current river at 11 oclock cavalry crossed us. Stoped and eat at 12. rested at 1 P.M. and got in camp at twenty minutes past 2 oclock got a letter from Emma
