1863

Mar 20th  fine nice day. rained quite a hard shower last night, all quiet to day, boys cleaned up the camp, got a citchen tent. done no duty to day, got no mail; wrote a letter to Mary (sent a dollar to Mary in letter), got some bushwhackers, no news.

 "  21st  fine nice day, very warm, and close, rained some went down to head quarters and sold a box of crackers, for the boys, got no mail, all quiet, a scouting party went out this morning, started a letter to Emma, dress parade this evening.

Sunday

 "  22nd  raining quite hard this forenoon, and sprinkled some all day nothing going on to day. no mail, I wrote a letter to Emma, no meeting of any kind no news, dress parade this evening.

1863

Mar 23rd  raining wet day. drilled this forenoon, got a letter from M. Morales all well, got some rubber blankets and dress coats for company. Started a letter to Mary, got some butter and cheese. no news. raining to night.

 "  24th  fine day but cool, had company drill this forenoon and Battallion drill this afternoon I commanded the company. I got me a dress coat no news no mail all quiet some of the officers got new tents, finished my letter to Mary and mailed it.

 "  25th  fine day but cool. had Co, drill forenoon. skirmish drill got a mail. got letter from Mary and Lewellin battalion drill afternoon all quiet.
