May 30th had quite a rain and is still showering. Lt Hall [i.e., Lieutenant Albert P. Hall] went to Rolla. cleaned up the parade ground and made it larger got a letter from Mary and Josephs likeness, no paper this evening, all quiet in camp, all well.
Sunday
" 31st very nice fine day, but dull, had knapsack inspection this forenoon, and then review of the Regiment. no meeting of any kind, no news very dull Sunday. had orders to move the camp in the morning, wrote a letter to Mary, all quiet fine night all well.

June 1 boys all at work cleaning of a new place for our camp, very fine forenoon I am on Guard Started to rain in the afternoon and rained all night, J.W. Smith [i.e., Private John W. Smith] furlough came, no particular news this evening. all quiet in camp building an Oven for to bake bread for Reg.
" 2nd rained all day and still raining wrote a letter to Mary and a piece to Mrs Bintliff and sent her $85.00. Sent $25.00 home to Mary, have to move in the morning, all busy in camp, all well but the Capt.
