MONDAY, MAY 4, 1863.

Very sultry, On guard at Post 4 Commenced to rain at 1.o.c quit at 12 No news of importance

THURSDAY, MAY 7, 1863

Very chiley & disagreeable, Foraging party gone out today Four Gun Boats came up the River, No mail, Two of the 1st Minn Cavelry came to see us from Ft Donaldson Rumors of a battle on the Rappahonack [sp. Rappahannock], Co H returned to day

 

TUESDAY 5

Cool & Cloudy, Relieved at 8 1/2 o.c. All quiet last night Three transports & one Gun Boat came down the River Commenced to rain at four o.c Been fishing got one bite All quiet at Roll Call

 

FRIDAY 8

Pleasent once more, Mail arrived to day received three letters & a Package of Papers, a lot of negroes start for Island No 10 Co B on fatigue,

 

WEDNESDAY 6

Very Cool & windy, Edward on Viset, Commenced to rain at 10 o.c, Very cold & disagreeable, No mail to day Reported that the Lloyd went up the Cumberland & was sunk, All quiet at Roll Call

 

SATURDAY 9

Pleasent but cool, Sanderson [i.e., Private? Benjamin Sanderson] starts for Columbus with Prisenors On guard to Day, At Post no 2 The day passed pleasent and quiet
